About us

SarceNet is all about textiles and stuff

Your instructor is Bonnie Colleen Pappin and I have been working with textiles since I was 5 years old. That was more than 55 years ago.

I bought my first knitting machine in 1978, buying it in a large department store in downtown Sydney, Australia and taking it home in a taxi. It was a blue Brother 588 pushbutton machine and I enjoyed it very much. I moved up to a second-hand Singer 321, traded that for a Passap Duomatic 80, acquired a Singer 360 and ribber, and then the dream machine, the Passap E6000. I recently obtained a Passap E8000 and am waiting for parts to get it working.

The year 2020 has made us all more familiar and comfortable with audio-visual communications. This inspired me to offer Passap lessons online. It is difficult to take a Passap to workshops as it is so large. Workshops are great, but require really good notes and no distractions when you get back to the machine.

Virtual teaching also allows me to see you working your own machine. I can help diagnose mechanical problems and (usually) suggest solutions.

METHOD & PRACTICE

The classes offered on this site are live via Google Meet. This allows me to view the student’s work in real time and provide immediate feedback. This is also space to ask questions and received answers. No assessment is required. A certificate will be provided after completion of all modules of a particular course.

OUTCOME

At the end of each class you will:

  • have learned more about the mechanical working of your machine
  • be more able to produce the fabric you want
  • be able to solve any issues that came up in the class, and
  • be more confident with your machine and its capabilities.
